Westside Neighborhood / Pine Street Corridor
A working-class residential area on Graystone's west side, running roughly from Pine & 3rd to Pine & 8th. Aging apartment buildings, minimal street lighting, corner stores with iron bars on windows, cracked sidewalks. The neighborhood has good people trying to make honest livings, but Gray Bloods gang presence has made residents wary and fearful. Elderly residents remember when this was a safe community; now they avoid going out after dark. Young families are stuck - can't afford to move, can't afford to speak up. The area needs consistent GSD presence but patrol deputies have to balance enforcement with not alienating the honest residents who live there.
GSD patrols have increased since restructuring, particularly Deputy Kongolo and Deputy Bloomington. Some residents are grateful for the crackdown on gang activity; others fear GSD corrections methods almost as much as they fear the gangs. Children still play basketball at Pine & 7th during daylight hours, but parents call them in before sunset. Corner stores stay open late but owners keep weapons under the counter. It's a neighborhood caught between criminal intimidation and aggressive law enforcement, trying to survive both.
