Gemma Robertson grew up in Graystone's harbor district, the daughter of Connor Robertson who owned the Rusty Anchor. Her childhood was spent around the bar, helping her father, playing with local kids including Maria Vasquez whose family ranch was on the city's outskirts. Gemma and Maria were best friends growing up - inseparable until their lives took different paths. Maria went into law enforcement, while Gemma stayed to help her increasingly troubled father. Connor Robertson was involved in Graystone's criminal underworld - the Rusty Anchor wasn't just a bar, it was a meeting place for smugglers, fences, and worse. Gemma knew her father was involved in "business" but didn't know the full extent. When the new GSD formed and began cracking down on corruption, Connor Robertson became a target. Then, three months after the GSD restructuring, he simply disappeared. No body, no explanation, no closure. The bar passed to Gemma as his only heir. At 25, suddenly owning a bar with a terrible reputation, Gemma made a decision: she would transform the Rusty Anchor into something legitimate. Clean it up, attract better clientele, turn it into a respected establishment for dinner and nightlife. She wants to prove she's not her father, that the bar can be more than a criminal haven. But Graystone has a long memory, and the GSD is suspicious. Especially Deputy Johnson, who was one of the old police force and remembers the Rusty Anchor's role in harbor crime. Gemma keeps reaching out to the GSD, offering cooperation, trying to build trust - but it's an uphill battle. She's caught between wanting to forget her father's legacy and being constantly reminded of it by those who knew him. Her old friendship with Maria Vasquez has become complicated - Maria is now a GSD deputy on mounted patrol, and while they're still friendly, the professional distance is painful for Gemma.
